  • Robert Named ECAC Jostens Female Administrator of the Year
    Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced that Charlyn Robert, director of athletics at Nichols College, have been selected as 2008 Jostens “Female Administrator of the Year.” Chuck Mitrano, commissioner of the Empire 8 Conference, was named “Male Administrator of the Year.”

  • Nichols' Curriculum Linked to Career Success
    Terese Corey Blanck and Peter Vogt challenged the crowd of college career service directors on Nichols’ campus: “If not you, then who?” The keynote speakers, employment experts and career coaches who help grads find entry level positions, are passionate about the need for a career planning program on the college level. “It’s time for a revolution,” Blanck stated at the career conference held August 4th and 5th.

  • Nichols Receives Tax-exempt Bonding for Copper Beech II
    To meet the needs of a record freshman enrollment of students wanting to experience life away from home, Nichols College is constructing its second apartment-style residence hall with the help of a $4 million tax-exempt bond issue from the Massachusetts Health and Educational Facilities Authority (HEFA).

  • Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies Offered Fall 2008
    Nichols College will offer a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies this fall 2008 to students who have already earned a master’s degree in a business-related field. The non-degree program is designed to provide professional managers with advanced graduate study and will require 18 credit hours of coursework.

  • Nichols' Pelto Uses Satellite Imagery to Track Glaciers
    For the last 25 years from July 31rd to August 15th, Dr. Mauri Pelto has been in the field researching the retreat of the North Cascade glaciers, the most extensive project of its kind in the United States. The North Cascades span the border between the Canada’s British Columbia and Washington State.

  • Nichols' Homegrown Wellness Program Featured Nationally
    How does a college encourage its employees to embrace healthier lifestyles? It takes teamwork according to Nichols College Vice President of Administration Susan K. Tellier who championed the launch of a wellness program for 130 full-time faculty and staff. Using campus and local resources, she describes in detail the process in an article written for the July /August issue of Business Officer, entitled “Share the Wealth.”

    Dr. James Lawson Conrad Jr.’s NICHOLS ACADEMY: The Spring on the Hill 1815-1931 was recently published by Nichols College. Autographed copies are now available in the Nichols College Bookstore for $14.95. Nichols Academy is a rich and lively educational history describing the intellectual power which flowed from the Dudley, Massachusetts, Academy in the early formative years of industrial growth.

  • Students Return from Business Trip to China
    “Being on top of the Great Wall of China was a life changing experience I will never forget,” says Nichols College senior Ryan Johnston, who recently returned from a 13-day May excursion to China with other Nichols students, alums, faculty and staff. Johnston says he was truly impressed by how friendly and accessible the Chinese people were and most enjoyed talking to average “Joes” on the street, most of whom spoke a little English.
