Two first-year accounting majors, Lauren Budney and Marcial Villegas, Jr. from Webster, are taking full advantage of a $4,000/year scholarship Gerald and Marilyn Fels provide to commuters from Dudley and Webster. Gerald Fels, who commuted to Nichols, wants to make sure that local residents aspiring to attend college are financially supported. The value of a Gerald and Marilyn Fels Commuter Scholarship is $16,000, and currently, 11 current students are taking advantage of the funds.
The purpose of financial aid at Nichols College is to assist students with the cost of private education. "Nichols is grateful to Jerry and Marilyn Fels for their continued support of area commuting students," states Thomas Cafaro, Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing. "These scholarships are vital in helping area residents further their education."

Gerald Fels is president, CEO & Chairman of the Board of the Webster, Mass.-based The Commerce Group, Inc., the leading auto insurer in Massachusetts. A 1966 alumnus of Nichols, who earned his MBA at Nichols in 1973, Fels serves as trustee emeriti of the College's Board of Trustees.
