Dr. Shirley Russo Joins GPS As Asst. Dean

 

russoDr. Shirley Russo has been named Assistant Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) at Nichols College. As both a dean and full professor, Russo will oversee GPS academics, including curriculum development, student retention, curriculum advising, faculty development, course schedule development, and assessment implementation.

"Dr. Russo brings a wealth of experience in adult education to the Department of Graduate and Professional Studies," says Dean Laurie Albert. "Her background in curriculum development and assessment initiatives is extensive and will be a great asset to the College."

Most recently, Russo was an associate dean in the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education at Framingham State College in Mass. where she worked on the planning, operations, evaluation, and assessment of all graduate and continuing education programs and oversaw student enrollment, admission, and advising. Prior to that, she was assistant dean and director of Health Professions and Sciences Programs at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Russo holds a Ph.D. in biology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, a master's from Drake University in Iowa, and a bachelor's from Millersville State College in Penn. She is the New England annual conference chair for the University Continuing Education Association.

Dr. Russo resides in North Grafton, Mass.
