Teaching Philosophy / Goals
I feel very strongly that knowledge truly represents power, particularly in our present society, because knowledge is completely portable, and perhaps more importantly, it is one thing that can not be taken from a person who already possesses it. I believe that my job as an educator is to do the most effective job I can of imparting fundamental insights into both how the natural world works and the importance of this knowledge.
Interests
My main interests in environmental science continue to be water-related, particularly those aspects related to human effects on our freshwater and marine resources, while other interests focus on humanity's increasing demands for and use of food, water, and energy resources and the resulting conflicts.
