My teaching philosophy can be briefly summed up as bringing a "balance" from text and other academic materials together with the reality of how the business world truly operates.
It is my constant atention to providing this "balance" that leads me to continuously strive to lead my students to understand and appreciate the differences between the "books and cases" and what actually happens in the real business world. Also, I regularly require a fairly high level of written work; mainly cases and projects.
My class periods emphasize discussion and participation, with the text and other academic material being the jumping off point for class activities. I tell my students that they are not coming to a class; rather they are walking into a "business meeting" where important information and weighty decisions will be made. My focus is from that of a high level managerial practitioner who has a strong orientation to realistic decision making.
I am known as a "tough but fair" teacher, and over the years students and College organizations have presented me with numerous awards for bringing excellence into the business classroom.
In addition to teaching marketing and strategic managment courses, I am very interested in the area of business case analysis as a learning tool in college and also have a high interest in graduate business education here at NICHOLS COLLEGE.
I live primarily in the Lakes Region of New Hamshire ( I sleep to work in Sturbridge, MA) and am involved in snow shoeing, hiking in the White Mountains and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. I also am a member of the New Hampshire Lakes Region US Marine Corps Birthday Ball Committee.
