Career Focused

Over the course of your fours years here at Nichols, you will earn a degree and launch your career.

Our professors have experience in the executive echelons of corporate America. The real world experience they share in the classroom is the best text book supplement you will ever get!

In addition to the knowledge of our savvy professors, Nichols has the following three programs to enhance your success in today's competitive job market:

Professional Development Seminar
Our four-year Professional Development Seminar (PDS) program helps you develop career skills that set you apart.

In the program's 3rd and 4th years, you will increasingly focus on career decision making, refine interview skills, and develop a presentation portfolio of your accomplishments.

Students find the mock interview process particularly helpful. They also enjoy the "Etiquette Dinner"  as well as our fashion shows depicting the "do's and don'ts" of professional dress.

Internship Program
An internship is a limited intensive learning experience outside of the traditional classroom. You are placed in a supervised work-based learning environment. There are many benefits to completing an internship; you gain valuable work experience, enhance your skills, obtain networking opportunities, explore employment  options, gain self-confidence, develop/increase your marketable skills and ease the transition from student to professional.

Furthermore, your internship experience will give you the edge needed to land that first job out of college. Currently, Nichols requires an internship for four of our majors:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Sport Management
  • Business Communications
  • Arts & Entertainment Management

Nichols students have interned at prestigious venues such as Madison Square Garden (New York Knicks), Gillette Stadium (Patriots), Aramark (Red Sox), John Hancock, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and many more.

Career Services

The Office of Career Services is available to help you with your job search, resume and cover letter review, interviewing skills and much more. There is a Career Resource Library available for you to research different careers and career topics. In addition, Nichols offers "Vault," an online resource tool in which students can access vast amounts of career information from job searches to internship opportunities.

The Office of Career Services hosts an annual career fair the first Tuesday in March.
In fact, numerous prominent corporations participate in this career fair, which is one of the largest in central Massachusetts. Our Career Services Office is renowned throughout New England for its commitment to preparing Nichols students for the world of work.
