Alternative sources of payment:
Outside Scholarships:
- Outside scholarships are awards that you receive from sources "outside" of Nichols College.
- Examples of outside scholarships are Lions Club Award, High School Award, an award from a Parent's place of employment.
- In order to have the scholarships show on the student account as a form of payment the following must be completed:
- A copy of the award letter must be faxed or mailed to the Financial Aid Department
- The Scholarship Release Form should be signed and returned
- You will be contacted if we have any questions or concerns regarding the award
Personal Loans/ Educational Accounts:
- Personal Loans are non-educational loans that are being used to finance the cost of attending Nichols College.
- Examples of personal loans would be a second mortgage, a home equity loan, or personal bank loan.
- Educational accounts are accounts that a family has set up to assist with paying for a child's education
- An example of an educational account is a 529 plan
- Payments from personal loans and/or educational accounts must be RECEIVED at Nichols College prior to the appropriate term payment due date.
UPLAN:
- UPLAN sends Nichols College distribution rosters of students who have requested UPLAN distributions.
- The original roster is normally received at the end of June or early July
- An updated roster is usually received in early August
- UPLAN monies will be indicated as an "Anticipated Payment from UPLAN" on the statement when the student is listed on a roster from UPLAN. (The "Anticipated Payment" amount will include the actual UPLAN payment amount and the school contribution amount.)
- Please remember to request your UPLAN distributions early as the updated rosters may be received AFTER the specified payment due date for a given term.
- UPLAN normally remits actual payments in August. At which time the student accounts will be updated to reflect the actual monies received and the appropriate school contribution amount.
