Welcome to Merrill Health Center. We are here to help you meet your needs during illness and injury, as well as to promote optimum health and wellness for all. Please feel free to visit us in the lower level of Alumni Hall.
Eligibility
We provide care to currently enrolled full time day resident and commuter students. Note: In order to provide optimum health care, the completed student health form is critical. Please assist our staff by submitting this information before you arrive on campus.
Staff & Hours
We are staffed by a Registered Nurse Monday-Friday. Office hours are as follows:
Monday-Friday 8:30 - 3:30 / Thursday and Friday 8:30 -1:30
Students are received on a first-come, first-served "walk-in" basis unless a specific time has been given. The college physician is also available daily, hours vary. Contact Health Services to find out availability.
If you require medical attention when the College Health Center is closed or on weekends, you are advised to go to Hubbard Regional Hospital Emergency Room or Harrington Memorial Hospital. See directions above. If you need assistance or transportation, contact your RA or Public Safety at ext. 5555.
Services
Physical exams related to possible illnesses and injury are done at the Health Center.
Some "over the counter" medications are available through the Center.
Limited tests done in the Health Center are rapid throat cultures, mono tests, pregnancy test, influenza test, and blood sugar monitoring. Additional testing is available through outside laboratories.
Any student requiring medication by injection may be evaluated by the Health Center to determine our availability to provide.
We are also available to give assistance or direct referrals when a student has difficulty with personal problems that are best addressed by other professionals.
Follow-up care as ordered by the student's family physician will be done if possible.
Blood Pressure, weight monitoring, BMI and Body Fat composition monitoring is available.
An information center is available to the student at Health Services. This includes numerous up to date pamphlets regarding health issues as well as books available for borrowing.

Medical Excuses
No written medical excuses are issued by the Health Center. The student is responsible for notifying his/her instructors of absence due to illness or injury. Faculty may verify a student's visit to the Health Center by calling us.
Fees
Full-time students are eligible for routine exams and care delivered at the Health Center without additional costs. X-rays, specific laboratory procedures, emergency room fees, etc. will be the direct financial responsibility of the student. Any prescribed drugs can be obtained from a local pharmacy, see directions above. If the student has insurance coverage for prescriptions, the appropriate insurance card should be presented when the medication is ordered.
For those students not covered by their parents insurance, the insurance is provided by Consolidated Health Plans
Confidentiality
Your medical records are confidential and are maintained separately from your academic records. NO MEDICAL INFORMATION WIL BE RELEASED WITHOUT WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM THE STUDENT.
