Clubs

It is hoped that every student will develop an interest in co-curricular activities and develop leadership skills that will prove useful after graduation.

Academic Honor Societies

Delta Mu Delta. This is a national college honor society for students in business administration. Its purpose is to promote higher scholarship in training for business and to recognize and reward scholastic attainment in business administration.

Mu Kappa Tau. The National scholastic honor society for students in marketing, Mu Kappa Tau's aims are to recognize and honor scholarly achievement and to promote the advancement of marketing education.

Omicron Delta Epsilon. The Kappa Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon was founded on the Nichols College campus in 1973. It is the official international honor society in economics formed for the purpose of demonstrating the College's continued commitment to academic excellence and recognizing academic achievement in economics.

Phi Alpha Theta. Phi Alpha Theta is the national honor society in History; its Alpha Mu Eta chapter was established here at Nichols in 2005. Its purpose is to recognize student excellence in the field of History as well as to encourage research, good teaching, and the exchange of ideas between students, teachers, and writers of History.

Zeta Alpha Phi. The Nichols College honor society, Zeta Alpha Phi, is a select group of men and women who have shown academic excellence in the classroom in addition to active participation in other campus activities. The primary aim of the organization is to stimulate student interest in academics and thereby improve the academic stature of the institution.

Athletic Honor Societies

Chi Alpha Sigma. Established at Nichols College in 2009, Chi Alpha Sigma is the first national scholar-athlete society to honor those collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. It recognizes outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter-winners while encouraging good citizenship, moral character and leadership among the high academic achievers in college athletics.

The Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).This club is made up of students who have won letters in varsity sports. It has charge of all sports banquets and rallies. SAAC is governed by the Athletic Council composed of the captains of varsity teams and officers of the Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Elbridge Boyden Society.Organized in August of 1991 and named after famous 19th Century Worcester-area architect Elbridge Boyden, the society honors juniors and seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on campus and who meet the membership criteria. The Boyden Society is a candidate chapter for membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, the prestigious national leadership honor society.

Student Government and Service Organizations


Campus Activities Board (CAB). The Campus Activities Board is dedicated to the purpose of stimulating student participation and spirit in campus activities. The CAB President and Vice President are members of EAB and take an active part in the affairs of this body. The main objectives of CAB are the organization and promotion of campus activities such as comedy shows, contests, movies, musical events, Spring Weekend, and dances.

Campus Ministry Association. An interdenominational group formed to support the spiritual needs of Nichols students, the Campus Ministry Association sponsors sharing suppers, sightseeing trips and speakers throughout the year.

The Student Government Association (SGA). SGA serves as the governing body of the student community of Nichols College. The SGA has jurisdiction over club activities, social events, student conduct, residence hall living, and other aspects of student campus life. Officers and representatives of the SGA are elected by the student body on an annual basis. The Executive Advisory Board is the executive committee of Student Government Association.

Student Publications and Communications Media


The College Yearbook. "The Ledger" is published annually by the Nichols students. "The Ledger" serves as a pictorial account of the activities of each school year. Capturing Today's Memories for Your Tomorrow!

The College Literary Magazine. "Windfall" is the campus literary magazine. It provides a vehicle for Nichols' writers and artists to express their thoughts and ideas. The magazine, now in its fifth year of publication, is published once a year.

WNRC Radio Station. The radio club started FM broadcasts from the campus in the spring semester of 1975. The club's objective is to keep the student body informed of all current events taking place on campus and in the surrounding areas. It also provides students with excellent quality music.

Club Sports

Paintball Club.Inception in 1997, the paintball club offers its own campus field as well as equipment. Paintball is a new and exciting activity that is taking the campus by storm.

Racquetball Club.The recently formed co-ed racquetball team competes regionally against Bryant, Providence, and Penn State. The team has also competed in the National Championships, winning the Men's National Championship in 1995 and placing fourth in the 1996 Overall Championship. The team practices at the Auburn Racquet Club in Auburn, Massachusetts.

Men's Ice Hockey Club. This club is made up of players at a variety of skill levels who wish to improve their game play through club level competitions with other colleges.

Women's Ice Hockey Club. Founded in 2003, the Nichols College Women's Ice Hockey club is affiliated with the American Collegiate Hockey Association and will play a full schedule of intercollegiate games during the 2005-2006 school year.

Men's Rugby Club. The Nichols Rugby Club has both fall and spring seasons. The club has had much success since its inception in 1987. Each season has a rigorous schedule which includes many home and away games.

Women's Volleyball Club. This group provides female students with a chance to a new volleyball skills and scrimmage with other volleyball enthusiasts.

General Interest

Accounting Club. This organization provides students an opportunity to meet with professionals in the field of accounting and other related areas. The club invites outstanding speakers representing industrial, public and governmental accounting. Off-campus activities include accounting seminars and field trips to local businesses and industries.

Commuter Club.The club serves as a social organization for commuter students. It provides a link between commuter students and campus activities. Its president serves as a member of the Executive Advisory Board.

Criminal Justice Management Club. This club provides a networking opportunity for those within the CJM major. It also introduces members to career opportunities through event sponsorships and trips to area agencies.

Economics/Finance Club. The Finance Club is dedicated to promoting a sustained interest in and an understanding of every facet of finance. Through exposure to personalities and institutions engaged in the practice of finance, members relate the real world of finance to classroom presentations.

History Club.The goal of this group is to create an environment in which students with an interest in history, politics and current events have the opportunity to broaden their horizons and increase their knowledge and experiences.

Human Resource Club. Students in this club seek experiences and information to gain a greater understanding of the field of Human Resource Management.

Management Club. The Management Club provides a focus for students interested in this career field. Field trips, guest speaker programs and informal social events are just a few of the club's activities.

Marketing Club. The Nichols College chapter was formed to foster the interest of students in the field of marketing. Business leaders who are actively engaged in some aspect of marketing speak to the campus chapter. Students participate in marketing simulations and other programs with members of collegiate chapters in the Boston area. Members may participate in Boston A.M.A. chapter activities which afford them more exposure to marketing techniques.

MIS Club. This club serves to promote the knowledge and experiences of students in the field of MIS by sponsoring guest speakers and off-campus trips.

Psychology Club. The purpose of this club is to involve any Nichols student in the world of Psychology. You need not be a Psychology major to participate.

Sport Management Club. Offering additional opportunities for Sport Management majors, the club schedules guest speakers and arranges trips to athletic organizations to give students exposure to this growing field of business.

Umoja.Organized in the Spring of 1999, Umoja (which is the African word for unity) began as a club for students of color. Open to all students, Umoja plans social and educational opportunities on the topics of multiculturalism and diversity, and sometimes events are just for fun!
