Finance is the study of the saving and investment habits of a society. Financial analysis and related decisions are an essential part of modern business and the primary activities of financial institutions. The program of finance is intended to develop an understanding of the role of finance in the structure of an organization and to provide the student with tools necessary for making sound decisions about financial policy.

By combining the study of financial management and investment analysis, the curriculum helps the student understand the techniques and interrelationships of the corporate financial manager and investment analyst. The areas of study include the financial environment, the various capital and money markets of the economy, the role played by commercial and investment banks, and the techniques for allocating capital within the firm.

The specialization in finance can lead to careers in banking, insurance, investment counseling, portfolio management, bond and commodities trading, and real estate.
